Michael Childers, PE is the President and owner of ICON Engineering. During his 24 years as a practicing structural engineer in Kentucky as well as several other states, Michael has been directly responsible for the design and construction administration of projects in excess of $80 million dollars. Prior to opening his own firm in 2005, Michael was an Associate Partner in Kentucky’s largest Architectural firm where he held the position of Senior Structural Engineer & Senior Project Manager for 18 years.
Christy Childers, Director of Business Development, has over twenty years of customer service experience and currently handles the daily operations at ICON Engineering. Christy is a member of the Hardin County AM Rotary Club and served as club president this past year. She is an Ambassador for the Elizabethtown Hardin County Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Elizabethtown Hardin County Heritage Council Economic Development.
Vic Wright, PE, is a licensed Professional Engineer with 35 years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineering. After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Industrial Management, Vic spent three years in the US Army, first as an Armor officer, and then as a Guided Missile Maintenance Officer in the Ordnance Corps. Since leaving the Army, Vic has been employed as President of a small sheet metal contracting firm, Vice-President of a large regional mechanical contracting firm, department manager in a local A/E firm, Vice-President of Engineering for a local manufacturing firm, and as President of his own engineering firm. Vic’s 35 years of experience includes design, project management, and construction management of industrial, commercial, institutional, government, and military projects. Vic, Eric, and ICON Engineering President Mike Childers worked together on many projects while employed by the same A/E firm. Vic is also a published author, having written several books on AutoCAD. Vic’s experience with AutoCAD dates to the early ‘80’s. In addition to AutoCAD, Vic uses Revit, MicroStation, Solid Edge, and Pro/Engineer, now Creo.
Shane Kurtz, PE joined ICON Engineering in April of 2011 after receiving his Master of Civil Engineering (with specialization in Geotechnical and Structural Engineering) from the University of Louisville in August 2010 with a 3.8 GPA.
Emily Montooth, EIT received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (with specialization in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering) from the University of Tennessee in May 2014. She joined the ICON Engineering team in June of that same year, and has since aided in the structural design and development of construction documents for many projects.
Lon Anderson, Structural Designer, received High Distinction upon his completion of his Associates Degree in Applied Science in CADD from Elizabethtown Community & Technical College and began working for ICON in September 2009. Lon is experienced in Revit, AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, and has gained experience in developing construction documents for various structures, including structural steel buildings & foundations, pre-engineered metal Building foundation systems, wood construction, and reinforced masonry construction. He is an Army veteran, a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, the American Design Drafting Association, ECTC CADD Department Advisory Committee, CORSA, the National Corvair Club and is active in the Derby City Corvair Club where he currently serves as club president.
